Brief

SHL Resolution No. 3902 urges the Kansas Legislature to support wireless broadband access and funding including training and assistance for use of wireless internet for all senior Kansans.

Background

The resolution notes wireless broadband is becoming essential for many tasks and vital services Kansas seniors need access to including grocery shopping, healthcare, and access to government resources.

The resolution notes use and participation in the benefits of wireless broadband internet access also includes education and training on using the internet and technological equipment.

The resolution notes seniors living in rural areas are most at risk of having little to no reliable access to wireless broadband, equipment, and eduction to access broadband.

The resolution recommends the Kansas Legislature commit funding in future projects and priorities to invest in networks to build and sustain wireless broadband infrastructure across the state to connect Kansas seniors to to the internet.
